YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD

PYS AWARENESS PROJECTS

This year the PYS Youth Advisory Board developed a plan to help publicize what Pittsford Youth Services offers to students in Pittsford.  As part of this plan, students designed a Youth Board T-Shirt to wear and a poster that was circulated throughout the Pittsford Community.  Also, three schools held “PYS Awareness Week”.

Sutherland High School – During the week of April 11-15 Jane Zhu and Jamie Winebrake and promoted PYS with a video telling students about PYS services and the benefits of joining the Youth Advisory Board.  They also held “Thoughtful Thursday” on April 14 where students wrote on slips of paper, something nice that someone did for them.  On Friday they posted the good deed and had a PYS info table.
Mendon High School - During the week of April 4-8 Allie Lovallo and Brian Case and promoted PYS during the morning announcements, wore their T-Shirts, designed and hung posters promoting PYS and the upcoming Duck Drop in July.
Calkins Road Middle School – On April 15 Stephanie Sorting, Austin DeStefano, and Matthew Young distributed bracelets and also designed posters to promote PYS
WANTED
  • Pittsford Youth Services Inc., (PYS) is looking for students in grades 9-12 who are interested in participating in the PYS Youth Advisory Board. Participation in the Youth Board consists of monthly meetings which are held at the Speigel Center at 35 Lincoln Ave in the evening and assisting with fundraising events during the year. Typical events are: face painting at Positively Pittsford and Pittsford Celebrates, fortune-telling at the Town Halloween Fest, the student-run Phonathon, and participating in the PYS Annual Duck Drop and its ticket sales.
  • Attendance is not required at all of the meetings and you can choose which events you'd like to help with. This is a fun and worthwhile way to meet community service requirements and it helps a great organization.
  • If you are interested in participating on the Youth Advisory Board, please fill out an Application / Information sheet by clicking on the link below. We have a limited number of openings available. If your application is accepted, you will be informed by e-mail in August. Our decision is based on a balance of grade levels between the two high schools.
