One-on-one counseling sessions with a PYS social worker, based on referral by a teacher, counselor, psychologist or administrator.
PYS social workers identify an issue, in collaboration with the school counselors and administrators, and facilitate a group of students dealing with a common issue. Groups sessions are usually held once per week for several weeks.

PYS social workers are contacted by PCSD Administration to address a crisis situation at a particular school, or within the district.

PYS social worker meets with the individual child outside of the school day when additional counseling is requested/needed, time is not available during the school day or seeing a child in school may not be in their best interest. Assessments are done by the PYS Clinical Director and the PYS school/community social worker.
A PYS social worker meets with all / part of a family for counseling. It is solution-focused, short-term counseling with eventual referral. An intake form is completed during the first visit. Co-payments apply.
CHOICES is a program offered by PYS to educate students and their parents about issues related to tobacco, alcohol, prescription and other drug use. Two one-hour sessions are facilitated by a licensed, masters-level social worker (LMSW) with expertise in substance abuse issues. Both the student and the parents/guardians are encouraged and expected to attend. A monetary fee of $75 per session is required at the time of each appointment.
PYS is centrally located in the town of Pittsford. Our offices are at 4 South Main Street, on the first floor of the Phoenix Building in the village. The office is staffed Monday-Friday from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Social workers will see clients at the office, with after school and evening hours as needed.
