Are you looking for ways to easily discipline your child wihout yelling or arguing? Consider 1-2-3 MAGIC, a program developed by Dr. Thomas Phelan, being offered through Pittsford Youth Services, Inc.

1-2-3 MAGIC is a six-session parentlng workshop that helps parents of children aged 5-12 years to:

  • Get your children to stop doing what you don't want them to do.
  • Encourage your children to start doing what you want them to do.
  • Handle misbehavior in public places.
  • Deal with common manipulations used by children.
  • Implement the steps needed for building self-esteem.

SURVIVING YOUR ADOLESCENTS Details& Registration Form(PDF)

This program is designed to help parents manage and let go of your 13-18 year olds. This workshop will help you with:

  • Learning what is normal adolescent behavior and how you should respond.
  • Communication and safety.
  • What parents should do when they are concerned or aggravated by their teenager's behavior
  • How parents should respond if they find their teen is engaging in serious risk-taking behaviors.
  • Six kinds of Testing and Manipulation and clear recommendations for handling testing.
  • House Rules

THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS Details& Registration Form(PDF)

This program is designed to help identify and understand Attention deficit disorder. This workshop will address:

  • What is ADD/ADHD – Diagnosing & Treatment
  • How it affects the family system
  • How it affects school and peer relationships
  • How to parent a child who has ADD/ADHD
  • How to explain ADD/ADHD to children

PARENTING PROGRAMS - SCHEDULING / FEES

In order to be most effective, we request that you commit to all consecutive sessions. Classes take place at the Spiegel Center, 35 Lincoln Ave, Rooms 205 and 102. Space is limited to 14 individuals on a first-come, first-serve basis. The fee is $80 for an individual or $100 per household. Limited scholarships are available.
